General Questions about Street Food Bike

Yes, our bicycles comply with the basic hygiene requirements of the European Union. Please note, that each country may have its own additional regulations, which must be taken into account.

To maintain hygiene, our bikes are equipped with the following features, among others:

  • 14 liter fresh and waste water tank for personnel and food hygiene
  • Option to upgrade to integrated hot water.
  • Spit protection to ensure food safety
  • Cooling options for the safe storage of temperature-sensitive products
  • High-quality, easy-to-clean HPL surfaces and stainless steel cooking inserts

Yes, our Paul & Ernst Bike is CE-certified and approved for commercial use in Europe. The certification complies with the relevant European standards: EN 15194, DIN 79010 and the EU Pedelec Regulation. These standards guarantee the safety, reliability and functionality of electric pedal assistance for commercial cargo bikes.

As each of our bikes is individually customized to the wishes and needs of our customers, it is not possible for us to provide a fixed price. Factors such as selected add-ons, special components, individual branding and the option with or without delivery have a significant influence on the total price.

You can find our basic prices in our price list.

Here you will find some important information that is often asked – without long explanations:

  • Lid load: max. 20 kg
  • Umbrella: protects your customers and the work surface – customer-friendly and functional. The umbrella is equipped with water-repellent materials and offers protection in light rain, but additional rain protection may be required in heavy or persistent rain. Dimensions: 200x250cm
  • Production time: approx. 5-9 weeks, depending on the season
  • Support & spare parts: We build your bike ourselves – so we are the specialists for all your questions. Get in touch with us directly!
  • No, unfortunately the bikes are not magnetic – that’s why the branding is done with foil.
  • Does Paul&Ernst also deliver outside Europe? Yes, we sell bicycles all over the world – but the customer has to take care of the delivery themselves. We are of course happy to provide support here.
  • We recommend covering a maximum distance of 15 kilometers with the bike, especially when fully loaded.

Our bikes can be 100% individually branded – only the frame always remains in matt black. For all other elements such as the shade, body and lid, you can choose from all the colors in the RAL Classic range.

We use high-quality foils for the branding itself. You can choose between the following packages:

  • Branding Standard: Cut-out and print stickers, maximum 3 pcs. 50 x 25 cm each
  • Branding Large: Cut-out and print sticker, unlimited quantity, free size
  • Full foiling: Complete foiling of body and lid for maximum visibility of your brand

If you change your mind during the design process, the branding package can still be upgraded after the order has been placed.

Our e-bikes are equipped with powerful lithium-ion batteries, which vary in size depending on the model. The battery not only powers the pedal support, but also all of the bike’s electronic components – e.g. cooling, heating element, water pump or lights – i.e. everything that is operated via 36 V or 24 V.

As soon as the bike is connected to an external power source, the battery is automatically deactivated. All connected devices then run via the external power connection – this conserves the battery.

Battery sizes and performance

  • Size S: 12 Ah / approx. 440 Wh – charging time 1-2 hours – cooling approx. 2.2 hours.
  • Size M: 24 Ah / approx. 876 Wh – charging time 3-5 hours – cooling approx. 5.2 hours.
  • Size L: 45 Ah / approx. 1.6 kWh – charging time 7-10 hours – cooling approx. 9.6 hours.
  • Size XL: 60 Ah / approx. 2.3 kWh – charging time 10-12 hours – cooling up to 12 hours.

Note: These values only apply for driving or cooling. If used at the same time, the running time is reduced accordingly.

Note on battery care:

To ensure the longest possible service life, we recommend that you do not regularly charge the battery to 100%. Stopping charging at around 80-90% protects the cells and extends the service life. Storage at approx. 50 % charge level is also ideal – especially for longer periods of downtime.

Yes, our bikes offer various well thought-out options for storing and expanding the storage space – in addition to the storage space in the body of the bike.

  • Lid storage space: The internal dimensions of the lid are 1109x58x15cm. This means that with a Pro lid with cup dispenser, for example, you still have 64 L of storage space.
  • Transport net: An optional tension net can be attached to the lid – ideal for light objects such as ice cream cone cartons. Note: Make sure that no hard particles (e.g. stones) rub between the net and the lid to avoid scratches.
  • Rattan basket: A decorative wicker basket on the front offers practical and visible storage space – perfect for things like coffee beans, napkins or advertising material.
  • Saddlebags: Bicycle panniers with double side bags can be attached to the pannier rack. Each side bag measures 33 × 17 × 30 cm – this results in around 20 liters of additional storage space.

This keeps your workspace tidy – and everything important is stored within easy reach.

A total of 80 liters of ice cream fit into the Square. The 80 liters are made up of 6 GN trays of 5 liters each and 10 GN containers of 5 liters each (as a backup). In the Ice Cream Bike Square, 6 ice cream varieties are presented visibly.

Cooling can be set between +6 degrees and -16 degrees. In the Ice Square model , compressor cooling with a 2-circuit system is installed for this purpose.
Coolant used: R290

With the Square Bike, your customers can see your ice cream at first glance – and as we all know, the eye eats with you! With six carefully selected flavours, you offer just the right variety: enough choice for everyone to find what they want, but not so much that it’s hard to decide.
Thanks to the dual-circuit cooling system and the extra insulated glass, your ice cream stays constantly and reliably chilled – even when it’s busy and warm.

  • Speedrack: One of the most useful add-ons. It helps you to keep the deck neat, clean and organized at all times.
  • E-connectivity set: While you sell ice cream, your customers can, for example, find out about your ice cream brand, watch a video of your production or pay online. (Contains: Router without sim, 24V connection for printer, 2x USB, 230V sockets (the latter only works with external power supply). Attention: The iPad is not included in the set!)
  • Rattan basket: Not only does it look good, but it also offers additional storage space while you are on the way to your point of sale or you could use it as a waste garbage can for your customers.
  • Cup dispenser: The cups are conveniently integrated in the lid, easily accessible and therefore not standing around on the deck. Plus you can stow the cups here during transportation.
  • Scoopshower: Thanks to the integrated water canister, you can use the Scoopshower to quickly wash off the scoop before you portion out the next scoop.

A total of 98 liters of ice cream fit into the Pozzetti. The 98 liters are made up of 8 Carapine (ice cream bowls) of 7 liters each plus 6 Carapine (as a backup). So a total of 14 Carapine in the bike.

The cooling can be set between +6 degrees and -16 degrees. The Pozzetti models are equipped with compressor cooling with a 1-circuit system.
Coolant used: R290

With the Pozzetti bike, you can convey the charm of classic Italian gelato culture: handmade, high-quality ice cream – fresh and authentically presented. The bike offers space for eight different flavors (six flavors in the square version) and ensures particularly efficient and constant cooling thanks to the special Pozzetti tube system.

The Paul&Ernst Streetfood Bikes can be equipped for gas or electric use. Important: If you want to work electrically, please note that the bike battery only supplies 36V or 24V – an external power supply is therefore required to operate kitchen appliances.
A combination of gas and electricity is also possible, so that you remain flexible depending on your location and requirements. Important: Please note the local safety regulations – in many regions it is not permitted to use gas and electricity at the same time. You must then decide on a variant for the day.

We recommend a standard camping gas cylinder with 5.6 kg (H: 52 cm; D: 22 cm). Please note the maximum dimensions (L 31 x W 31 x H 52 cm) of the recess before purchasing a gas cylinder.

ATTENTION: We expressly advise against having the gas cylinder connected by non-professionals. Always contact qualified specialists for the connection. The gas appliance is not connected by paul&ernst.

This is an HPL panel that is used for all bicycle variants, which are also considered the quality standard for ordinary household kitchens. To a certain extent, the material is resistant to water, heat and acids. However, we recommend using underlays for extreme heat (e.g. pots and pans).

The Cooking Pro I bike has an integrated 75-liter refrigerator that is powered directly by the bike’s battery. This means that the system remains completely independent of external power sources.

Cooking PRO I Length (mm) Depth (mm) Height (mm)
Without console 615 660 315
With side console 400 660 315
With cross console 615 455 315
  • Consoles: Very practical for the optimal storage of your ingredients. Here (link) you can find the document with an overview of the different types of consoles.
  • Rattan basket: Not only does it look good, it also provides extra storage space while you’re on the way to your point of sale.
  • Heating element for hot water: Required in many countries to comply with hygiene regulations.
  • E-connectivity set: Enables new customers to view the menu at the POS and place orders while cooking or serving (Includes: Router without sim, 24V connection for printer, 2x USB, 230V sockets (the latter only works with external power supply). Attention: The iPad is not included in the set!)
  • Bachmann socket tower: A retractable socket tower, elegantly integrated in the cover, with connection options for two additional devices. Important: The socket tower only works when the bike is connected to an external power source.
  • GN rack set: The GN rack set offers a hanging option on the glass panel for practical and decorative storage of spices or other ingredients.

This is partly true: with the Cooking Pro II, there is no room for a refrigerator on the bike itself, as the space is used for two kitchen appliances and/or consoles.
However, we offer the option of ordering a small cooling trailer with an additional 170 L cooling capacity – so your cooling needs are still covered. (see: basic trailer small).

With side console 860 660 315
With cross console 1075 455 315

With the Cooking Pro II, you have twice the cooking surface of the CPI, allowing you to place two to three cooking appliances on the bike at the same time. In combination with an additional cooling trailer, you also have the option of reliably cooling your ingredients.

Yes, we have three different solutions for the coffee bikes. There are two things to note for all three solutions.

  1. Power: The bicycle battery only supplies 36V or 24V – an external power supply is therefore required to operate portafilter machines
  2. Water: The fresh and waste water is drawn from the integrated 14L canisters. If you need more water, you must either lay an external water pipe or refill the canisters.

Here is a brief introduction to Paul&Ernst Coffee Solutions:
Coffee Pro I: with refrigerator, but only space for a single-head portafilter machine
Coffee Pro II: without refrigerator, but with space for a two-head portafilter machine – optional 170L refrigerator in a small trailer
Lifting platform bike: without refrigerator, but with space for a large portafilter machine, which can be lowered into the body. (Advantage: the lid can be closed during transportation without removing the portafilter machine).

For coffee solutions, we strongly advise you to arrange a to arrange a consultation with usto discuss the different models together.

  • E-connectivity set: While you prepare the coffee, your customers can either find out about your coffee roasts, watch a video of your production or pay online at the POS (Includes: Router without sim, 24V connection for printer, 2x USB, 230V sockets (the latter only works with external power supply). Attention: The iPad is not included in the set!)
  • Bachmann socket tower: A retractable socket tower, elegantly integrated in the cover, with connection options for two additional devices. Important: The socket tower only works when the bike is connected to an external power source.
  • Rattan basket: Not only does it look good, it also provides extra storage space while you’re on the way to your point of sale. You can also decoratively present your own coffee here, for example.
  • Cup dispenser: The cups are conveniently integrated in the lid, easy to reach and therefore do not stand around on the deck. Plus you can store the cups here during transportation. Brew drawer: the brew drawer can be integrated into the coffee console. Our staff will be happy to advise you on further options and individual customizations.

The Beer Bike fits 2 × 30-liter or 1x 50-liter Euro or DIN kegs.

Cooling is provided by a dual-circuit continuous-flow cooler, which ensures that the beer is always pleasantly chilled. See the cooling circuit in the following illustration:

We can integrate a dispensing tower into the bike – this can be equipped with a double tap on request.

Our bikes are equipped with a basket tap head (type S) as standard, as is common in most European breweries.
We also offer other tap head variants on request, such as type A (flat) or type G (bayonet). Please simply let us know your requirements when ordering.

Naturally – and the whole thing is also self-sufficient. The bike comes with a glass drip tray that can be safely stowed away inside during transportation. There is also an integrated glass shower, just like in any bar. The continuous cooling system reaches right to the top of the tap.

  • E-connectivity set: While you tap the beer, your customers can use the POS to find out more about your brewery, watch a video of your production or pay online. (Includes: Router without sim, 24V connection for printer, 2x USB, 230V sockets (the latter only works with external power supply). Attention: The iPad is not included in the set!)
  • Cup dispenser: The cups are conveniently integrated in the lid, easily accessible and therefore not standing around on the deck. Plus you can stow the cups here during transportation.
  • Speedrack: One of the most useful add-ons. It helps you to keep the deck neat, clean and organized at all times.

The entire interior in the body of the bike serves as a large cooling compartment. A total of 240 liters of cooling capacity is available. With our additional GN rails, GN containers can be stored in a standardized way.

There is no separate ice compartment, but our fridges are designed so that they are colder at the bottom. It gets warmer towards the top. This allows you to store ice safely and cold at the bottom, while keeping fruit or other delicate ingredients fresh in slightly milder cold air at the top.

The bottle sump is a stainless steel insert with a drain that is cooled from below. GN containers fit in here or alternatively ice cubes to keep drinks or ingredients reliably cold.

  • Speedrack: One of the most useful add-ons. It helps you to keep the deck neat, clean and organized at all times.
  • E-connectivity set: While you prepare the drink, your customers can either find out about your brand at the POS, watch a video of your production or pay online.
  • Rattan basket: Not only does it look good, it also provides extra storage space while you’re on the way to your point of sale. The basket is a big plus for decoration, especially if you are attending special events by bike!
  • Bottle sump HPL cover: If you don’t need to cool bottles directly at an event, you can close the bottle sump with the HPL cover. This means you don’t have an open hole in the deck when the bottle sump is not needed and the surface remains clean and usable throughout.
